60 And Growing

As I start typing this, I will be sixty years old in three hours and three minutes. I do not know the actual hour of my birth but I remember being told that it was in the early am hours. The best and worst things about my birthday through the years has been the fact that I was born on the exact same day as one of my brothers, only two years later. I expect he feels the same. It is hard enough putting up with a younger brother, much less sharing a birthday.

So what did I do on my last day before turning 60, you ask. Actually it has been a really good day. I woke between 5:30am and 6:00am, got up to pee, went back to bed and slept soundly til 8:45am. I then got up, ate, read the paper and then went to visit my folks. The best part of my day was making my birthday cake with my 94 year old father. We worked together and whipped together a three layer German Chocolate Cake, a family favorite, and a staple of my brother's and my birthdays. Then we fixed lunch, visited and filled bird feeders. When I got home I went for a 5 mile walk out the road and back.

At this moment I am drinking a Blue Moon Belgian Style White Ale left by my nephew back in July. That will give you a clear picture of my alcohol habits. However this is pretty good and I believe I will have another, the last one in the fridge.

So what have I learned after 60 years, you ask. A whole lot of trivial things, not worth talking about and a few important things. However I am trying to keep my advise to myself, unless asked. It is harder than you may think. One piece of advise though, having a few close friends helps you get down the road.

IMOL and Mumbles are also approaching 60, so we will all be in the same boat shortly and that is as it should be and has been since the ages of 11.

Happy birthday to us all.

Kymatica, Esoteric Agenda etc.

This is very thought provoking. At times sacrilegious, and completely anarchistic. I confess I am only halfway though at the moment. Give yourself 2 hours to watch the whole movie. It starts out a bit slow without clear direction, but after 15 minutes or so he starts covering ground much more quickly with an investigation of parasite / cancerous humans and the trappings of our authorities, constitution, and individual freedom.

In religion and politics, peoples beliefs and convictions are at almost every case gotten at second hand, and without examination, from authorities who have not themselves examined the questions at issue, but have taken them at second hand from other non-examiners, who's opinions about them were not worth a brass farthing. -Mark Twain

The Erasure of Guilt

For many of us older folks, we have experienced a sense of guilt since elementary school. Whenever we didn't clean our plate, our parents quickly asked us to remember all the starving people in China. Either we finished the crap they were dishing out or we went to bed bearing this overwhelming guilt that someone on the other side of the world just died because we didn't finish our cauliflower. Well, there is no one in China any more. They are not in Taiwan. They are not in Chinatown. They are in Roanoke and they don't eat Chinese food. I went to Shoney's tonight for a quiet trip or trips to the food bar. Upon arrival, I found the restaurant full of all of these Chinese people. There was absolutely no food on the food bar other than a spoonful of macaroni and some wilted lettuce. I waited patiently for the next serving and it appeared within minutes. However, I immediately determined that I didn't want to endanger myself with these feeding piranha. I swear I saw one of them eat one of their own kids. As quickly as they came, they left. No food. All gone. Shoneys told me they had no more. All of a sudden I was cleansed of my near lifelong guilt. They Chinese had come, eaten, and were full. What a weight (no pun intended) off my shoulders along with you other oldsters. We have been set free!

Hollow Answer

The young punk told me that you will receive an email whenever a new post occurs on the blog. Surprise! Surprise! Surprise! That's what happened. It looks like Imol will need some more help. Thick fingers, you think?

The purpose of the blog, as I understand it, is the enlightenment of our youngers though right now the young punk is the only one who will possibly be enlightened. Something is wrong with the picture as he is the only one who actually has any idea about what's going on.
Good grief! Sex, drugs, and rock & roll all came easier than learning to blog. How will I know if anyone read this blog? Are you there imoljr? Are you there Shakes? How about young punk?
